Greetings from Woodfrod Folk Festival!

So far it has been an awesome festival, the weather although a little hot some days has cooperated admirably and there is no all consuming mud like last year, just enough rain to keep the dust down.

Day one was partially cloudy and I wandered aimlessly for most of the morning taking in bits and pieces of various acts, getting my hair braided into small plaits and then joined the pilgrimage to the Amphitheater for the Opening Ceremony of fire twirlers and lanterns and pledging the most wonderfully bizarre pledge of allegiance ever.
After the Opening Ceremony most of the audience under twenty five rushed the stage for That 1 Guy, an awesome artist whose music which it could be classified as dance mostly defies classification. I had a good spot and managed to get myself into the front row of the mosh and we all spent most of gig getting pushed back by security.
This made me remember why I stay to the back of moshes as i came out with very very sore muscles, several bruises and drenched in sweat, so all in all a good time was had by all. :P.
Most of the mosh then left for the Concert stage and Doch a gypsy fusion band which plays wonderfully addictive Rom songs and makes the entire audience dance, get sweaty and strip off clothing :D.

Yesterday was a sunnier day and I spent much of the morning lying in the Chai tent watching people sing, lounging on the pillows and reading a book.
Then I moved to the village green so I could listen to the folky music from the Duck and Shovel and watch the cricketers and their slow motion replays of the Boxing Day test.
Then a massage to remove the soreness of the moshing. *Grin*
It rained on me so I, like everyone else, put on my plastic poncho and headed back to camp to grab a tarp to sit on and an umbrella in preparation for Kate Miller-Heidke who ROCKED OUT THE AMPI, which was packed full with the occasional fire twirler right up the top. She was followed by Josh Pyke who was also awesome and seems to have stealth songs because I only thought I knew two and I actually knew almost every song in the set.

Today I once again lay around and did nothing in the Village green for part of the morning as it was very very sunny and stinking hot. I retired to the Internet Cafe for a while to see if my inbox had created a civilization and declared independence yet. Then I went off to Morris dance which should seriously be banned in Australia in summer 'cause I flaked 45 minutes in dripping with sweat.
Then I went back to camp and showered off the majority of the nasty nasty sweat and came back after dark to watch the daily parade.
Which brings us to now!

Three more days to go, which I may blog daily or once I get home, we shall see!
