Stephen is pressing Connor up against the car, there’s blood on his face and it could so easily have been his. If it wasn’t for Ryan it would have been.

Connor shivers as Stephen presses him up against the cold metal, he remembers standing there frozen as something with big teeth raced towards him.

He remembers the splash of hot blood across his face as Ryan nailed it through the brain barely a metre in front of him.

He remembers the way Stephen’s hands shook as he dragged him close, hands searching for injuries, pressed against his skin in a way that at any other time would have had him writhing but today only had him clutching Stephen close and trying not to scream.

He remembers the bleak look in Ryan’s eyes and how hard his hands were clutching at his gun, how he was stopping himself from reaching out until Connor held out a hand and he let himself be drawn into the embrace and if his shoulders shook as he buried his face in Connor’s hair he’s not telling anyone.

Ryan’s hands join Stephen’s as the other man’s warmth pushes in from the side, welcome and heavy.

Stephen’s hands are harsh and demanding on his arms as Ryan shoves a hand down his pants, stroking him to hardness.
