For those who don't know i'm studying to be an English teacher.
One of my texts is all about how to teach English...and one of their strategies is to give the students a story or a movie...and then tell them to either change a character, a moment or a conversation and then write how that would change the story, or they could write an alternative ending or what happened before the story, after the story or what happened from someone else's perspective.
The textbook is telling me to ask my students to write fanfic! Go me!
This is the part when I say..where is live is full of the odd and weird.
On the way into town every morning, for about the last 4 months we've been driving past a whole lot of earth moving...and we've been wondering what its purpose was for quite a while.
It wasn't a normal looking dam 'cause it almost looked heart shaped and dams are usually just round/crescent.
Anyway, so on monday i'm reading the paper at uni waiting for my lift and I open the second page to find a story all about a wedding...
A wedding held on a heart shaped dam, on a yacht that they shipped in, with an escavator dressed up as a dragon and where the groom rescued his bride from the dragon and the island in the middle of the heart shaped lake.
I looked that afternoon on the way home and sure enough the escavator was still there in its dragon costume...
Odd days...

I remember them setting us creative writing assignments like that at shcool - I always loved them, except when they chose a really rubbish book as the jumping off point, and then I'd end up practically ignoring the original excerpt and just writing my own stuff.
And the dragon wedding thing just sounds great. If a little strange.

I used to have loads of fun with this sort of assignment at school, far better than "What I did in my holidays" style of boring crap.
BTW, I'm still trying to think up some more prompts for you!!
