This is the first half of a prompt list of drabbles that is a christmas present for
barefoot_starz I figured I should break it up a bit. Many different pairings and fandoms, there should be something for everyone *grin* unless you like het.
He’s not sure he’d be able to face those things, those people if it wasn’t for his time within these walls, where cruelty and pain and hate do not exist and all that does exist is touch and smell and taste. He needs this time, but more then that he needs this time with Aaron, who centres him and grounds him in a way that is utterly necessary.

Metallica – Spencer Reid
Outside these walls there is pain and fear and heartbreak and failure, outside these walls there is life at its worse, and Spencer knows this, he sees it every day, the absolute worse parts of humanity.
Within these walls there is only Spencer and Aaron and nothing else matters.
Target Practice – Stephen Hart/Connor Temple
After the second time Connor was almost eaten by a creature because he was unarmed Stephen decided to do something about it.
He dragged a truly uncooperative Connor to the shooting range he occasionally used, one that was getting a lot more use lately.
“I don’t need to learn to shoot!” Connor said indignantly, holding the unloaded gun Stephen had handed him as far from his body as possible.
Stephen sighed, he could see this taking a very long time.
“You do because sooner or later the soldiers aren’t going to arrive in time.” Connor looked distastefully at the gun again.
“But why this? Can’t I just use a tranquiliser gun.”
Stephen sighed impatiently.
“Tranq’s can only shoot one dart at a time, and you can’t be sure you’re going to hit that first time or that it’s going to work, you have a lot more chanced with a pistol.”
Connor looked ready to argue again. Stephen exhaled loudly before pushing the gun properly into Connor’s hand.
“Please just do it for me.”
The look in Connor’s eyes for the split second before he turned away and the speed with which he agreed should probably have tweaked something in Stephen, but it would be another three months before he realised what had started that day.
‘I’m sorry… I was really drunk’ – Nick Cutter/Stephen Hart/Connor Temple
The first time Nick woke up in bed with Connor and Stephen it took two hours for them to convince him that he hadn’t done anything against their wills.
Stephen had woken as Nick scrambled out of the bed, tripping over himself as he stumbled to the toilet and heaved. He smiled, Nick had always had terrible hangovers, the first hint he had that there was another reason behind the nausea was when Nick’s heaving turned into sobs against the porcelain.
Lines of worry creased Stephen’s forehead as he untangled himself from the sheets, Connor finally rousing in his wake.
Stephen’s worry really spiked when Nick flinched away from his touch and started mumbling. It took Stephen a few seconds before he could catch more then a few vague words.
Stephen’s worry really spiked when Nick flinched away from his touch and started mumbling. It took Stephen a few seconds before he could catch more then a few vague words.
“I’m sorry…I was really drunk…I’m sorry…please forgive me.” There was such fear in Nick’s voice and it made Stephen’s stomach clench as Connor joined him in the bathroom.
“What’s wrong?” Connor murmured.
“I have no idea.” Stephen answered with a shrug. He leant down again to comfort Nick, only to pull back as the other man recoiled from the touch. Nick started mumbling again Stephen slowly understood.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have gotten drunk…I wanted…but I shouldn’t have…I shouldn’t have let myself…I’m sorry.”
Stephen shook his head in disbelief before turning to Connor.
“Help me, he’s gotten stupid and thinks he pushed us into this.” Connor’s eyes went a little wide with shock but he followed Stephen down onto the floor until the two of them were flanking Nick as the older man cringed away from them. He recognised Stephen’s greater knowledge of Nick and so just settled for stroking gentle hands down his back and across his cheek as Stephen spoke softly to him.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, we want you. I want you, Connor wants you. You didn’t do anything wrong.” He kept repeating it until Nick finally looked up at him and Stephen smiled softly and kissed him. Then Stephen turned his head so Connor could kiss him too.
Stephen then stood and pulled first Nick and then Connor to their feet. He stroked Nick’s cheek again as Connor, a little nervously, slid his fingers along the soft skin in the dip of Nick’s hipbones. Stephen took Nick’s hand again and pulled him forward, giving the older man no choice but to follow, he slid his free hand up the smooth skin of Connor wrist and led them both back to the bed.
“Let us show you how much we want you.”
Warrior – Tom Ryan/Stephen Hart
Stephen had never seen himself with a more dominate partner, it seemed easier somehow to date people who were willing to give in to him, so how he managed to end up married to a warrior baffled him.
Ryan was everything he had never thought he wanted, pushy, strong, utterly held back at times, and to top it off, a man.
But when they’d first stumbled into bed together Stephen hadn’t even hesitated, because despite all his misgivings and hang-ups it was really good sex.
It was when the sex had turned into a relationship that Stephen had been forced into having an identity crisis, which wasn’t anywhere near as much fun as it sounds. He locked himself up and got rather drunk, Ryan had quite helpfully ignored him while he was doing so and then waited another two months before suggesting a civil partnership. He’d muttered something about ambush tactics when Stephen as asked about the timing, he hadn’t asked again.
He did say yes.
Gun Oil – Tom Ryan/Connor Temple
The alternate uses of gun oil had never really occurred to Ryan until he had Connor pressed up against a tree, pants around his knees, begging.
All this had started about 10 minutes earlier while Ryan was escorting Connor through the Forest of Dean following some tracks and Connor was babbling about something.
The babbling was distracting Ryan, and much to his later irritation he had to admit that the reason the creature which burst out of the bushes didn’t kill them instantly was more because Connor had slipped and knocked him over then any skill on his part.
He did manage to get his gun up in time to stop it trying again before letting his head fall back against the dirt. Connor’s babble had taken on a manic and terrified tone and it was starting to grate on Ryan’s ears.
He did the most sensible thing he could think of, he rolled onto his side and pinned Connor’s head to the dirt with his lips.
Now Ryan had expected Connor to freeze or maybe freak out a bit more, but at least be quiet for a few moments, this was his version of a slap in the face. What he had not expected was for Connor’s mouth to open underneath his and for Connor’s hands to come up and curl around his shoulder blades. And really, who was he to say no to that?
Tac Vest – Tom Ryan/Stephen Hart/Connor Temple
Connor couldn’t help it if Ryan’s tac vest turned him on, it wasn’t his fault, if anything it was Stephen’s for encouraging him. Stephen who rather then being jealous found it utterly amusing that every time they were out in the field Connor would spend a large proportion of it ridiculously hard.
Connor thought the lack of jealousy may be more because of the looks Stephen threw Ryan every time the man was holding a weapon then because he was particularly tolerant.
What they didn’t know was that Ryan equally enjoyed watching Connor geek out at their newest creature or Stephen fade into the underbrush with a tracker’s stealth.
Well not quite yet at least.
Blood – Connor Temple
Blood was something that had always been slightly vague to Connor. Something which happened to other people, to people with much more frightening lives then him, that was until he met Nick and Stephen. Then blood became something he was all too familiar with, especially large quantities of it.
Blood down Stephen’s arm from the wound in his shoulder, on Nick’s face, on animals and bodies and it was terrifying. It was terrifying and the most primal parts of himself finally agreed with the rational parts of himself for once and told him to run as far away from it as he possibly could.
He almost had, but there was some part of himself, both deeper then his primal self and yet higher then his rationality which provided to him the faces underneath the blood, Nick and Stephen, and Connor couldn’t help but stay.
‘But I don’t know how to ride a bike or drive a car…’ ‘Or, apparently, please a woman…’ – Zack Addy/Jack Hodgins
Zachary Addy didn’t know how to drive a car or ride a bike, he didn’t know how to please a woman, but he did know that Jack liked his coffee with two sugars, lots of milk and that offering him tea was a bad idea.
He knew that Jack hated woollen sweaters and would only wear cashmere against his skin and was allergic to bananas.
He knew that Jack slept on the left side of the bed, utterly refused to sleep in a wet patch and if left to his own devices wouldn’t be up till noon.
He knew that Jack preferred to bottom and had a particularly sensitive spot on the inside of his thigh.
He was starting to think that not knowing how to drive or ride or please a woman didn’t matter a lot in light of all that.
Anyway, Jack liked driving.
‘I’m not clueless…’ – Zack Addy
Zach was a scientist and he was also a geek, which he had been informed meant he wasn’t very proficient at normal interpersonal relationships.
He had also been told, mostly by Hodgins that he was clueless. He had researched the word and found that it described someone who was oblivious to events and relationships occurring around him or her.
He thought this was quite unfair, he was very observant and was aware of most everything which occurred in the lab, he also was aware of the unresolved sexual tension between Agent Booth and Dr Brennan and the relationship which had formed between Angela and Hodgins.
He told Hodgins this, he just said he was missing the point.
Zach had asked him what point it was that he had missed, because he had researched the topic quite thoroughly.
Hodgins had walked away after that.
Terror – Spencer Reid/Derek Morgan
Derek had never felt terror as deeply and acutely as he had since he met Spencer. The cold clenching of his gut, the spike of adrenaline were always part of this job, it was what he did, walked into terror inducing situations so that other people didn’t have to, and while that terror he felt had always been shared equally between himself, his team mates and nearby civilians it had never before held the sheer power it had since Spencer had begun walking into those situations with him.
Some rational part of his brain tried to tell him the reason behind this, it tried to tell him that you don’t feel this kind of terror for the safety of a workmate or a friend, this was the level of terror one felt for the person they loved.
It took Spencer’s kidnapping for those logical thoughts to finally enter his brain, and while they didn’t go away after that, he at least knew that he had Spencer’s promise to stay alive for him.
Blind – Eric Delko/Ryan Wolfe
It sometimes feels to Eric like he used to go through the world blind, like there was a dull sheet pulled over everything he did, everything he saw. Then it felt like one day that sheet lifted and everything in the world was suddenly alight with a new shine and light.
And it was all because of one tall gangly man with dark hair falling into his eyes and who seemed so often the exuberant puppy.
Ryan, even if he didn’t know it yet had become the sun in Eric’s life, he had lifted the shade and now everything looked and seemed more then it once was.
Eric was once blind, but now everything was so utterly clear.
Werewolves of London – Remus Lupin/Sirius Black
Werewolves, much like other large predators have territories, and as they are human for most of the month their territories are usually arranged around their human lives. Mates, homes, families, which for Remus was 12 Grimmauld Place and Sirius.
Even in human form Remus couldn’t quite keep the territorial feelings down, he’d taken to greeting every person to arrive at HQ, as if to warn them about moving in on his territory, Sirius was quite amused by that.
He’d also been rather amused when Remus would glare at everyone who came within two feet of him.
It turns out that Sirius was also being rather spectacularly dense in that while he was amused by everything Remus was doing, it took him several weeks to realise exactly why he was doing it. Well to be fair it actually took Remus jumping him in the hallway for his to realise, but all’s well that ends well.
Underneath the Suit – Ianto Jones/Owen Harper
Ianto hid beneath his suits, that was something Owen was sure of. He’d been tackled to the ground or into a wall by the man enough times to be sure of the muscle definition beneath the suit. What Owen didn’t know was that Ianto hid more then his body beneath them, he hid his passion.
Jack had been gone for a month and Owen was steadily drinking himself into unconsciousness in one of the better dance clubs in Cardiff. He was slumped slightly on the bar, staring off into the middle distance. The club was full and the strobe of the lights was almost enough to hide identities.
Owen watched casually as the crowd shifted and spun, breaking at odd moments to reveal the centre of the mass of humanity, a tall man with dark hair who seemed to draw the dancers to him and yet was totally unconcerned as to their attentions. He was lithe and smooth and utterly free and as the crowd closed again around him Owen wanted to shag him more then anything.
Owen was halfway to the dance floor when the crowd broke again and this time the man was facing him and Owen was frozen to the spot as green light strobed across Ianto’s face, which for once held no guilt or pain, just joyous freedom and Owen, for the first time since Jack left was utterly thankful for his leaving and took another step forward.
Broken – Ianto Jones/Jack Harkness
They were broken, fractured along so many lines Ianto wasn’t sure he could even put them back together again. They were brittle, cracking, shattering and chipped, littering pieces of themselves as they stumbled through life.
Some of the fractures had names, Lisa, Susie, Doctor and some were unnamed, just as they were never spoken of, the small quiet hurts that were almost more painful for their anonymity.
And yet Jack was the only thing that was holding Ianto’s loose collection of pieces together, and even as their broken shards gouged holes in each other, they clung all the tighter because Ianto was the only thing holding Jack together.

Hmmm... where to start.. Okay, I'll do both posts together. *g*
I will go almost anywhere for Captain Ryan fic, but your grasp of Nick, Stephen, and particurly Connor is lovely! Especially Connor's thoughts on the Beautiful People...
And Lorne! And Zelenka! And Lorne and Zelenka together. *happy sigh*
But I think my favourite is probably the Doctor's ruminations on the short but bright spark of his companions and how he can't not bask in that light.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.
I know Lorne! My favourite one to write was the Lorne/Parrish one which made me giggle while writing it and Radek, there is no way i can properly communicate how much i love Radek in all his geeky lovelyness.
Ryan is love, have you noticed how Fandom isn't bothering to bring him back in fic but that we're just completely ignoring that he died in the first place? I love Connor, he's probably my favourite character and i suppose that makes him easy to write, i certainly enjoy it.
The Doctor one was fun my brain just wandered off sideways for that one, i do seem to have an angst brain when it comes to the Doctor.

A stoned Parrish is a thing of beauty, and of course the botonists would be up on all of the Pegasus galaxy's illegal substances... *g*
And you have to love a fandom that can make a respectable OTP out of a character who had 5 minutes screen time if he was lucky!
I had to laugh at you referring to yourself as a fannish whore. I refer to myself as fannishly promiscuous, which is pretty much the same thing. Kirk/Spock started me off in 1982 and I haven't looked back. *g*
And, yes, I've noticed the Primeval fanficcers' tendancy to go defiantly AU at the end of ep 5. Although one girl did bring him back. Have you read

I started in Potterdom with absoloutly terrible fic before i started getting better and wandered out and started collecting.
I've read the begining of Time Heals All Wounds...i've read pretty much the entire Primeval fandom, but it didn't really grab me and i gave up.

I am predominantly a gen and slash reader and tend to have a handful of fandoms at a time which I'll actively read in. At the moment that's Numb3rs, Primeval, and some SGA. I had a rabid patch earlier this year with both Torchwood and Doctor Who, but while I still faithfully watch and adore the shows, I read very little of the fanfic at present. That will probably change when the new seasons start, though. I'm a fickle bunny... *g*

I read slash pretty much exclusively i tend to get bored if there isn't a pairing for me to look at.
I know what you mean about jumping from fandom to fandom, when i say i have 20 fandoms i mean those are the ones i have on my friends list and will read if something with a good pairing or premise pops up, but i got on fic binges randomly, especially when i've found a new fandom or sometimes just because my brain has got set on whether there is much slash for The Bill or something equally random.
I don't read much Who or Torchwood fic, probabably because the Who i like is Rose/Doctor or Rose/Jack/Doctor and liking the het kinda frightens me, and also it's hard to find lots of really good het in the one place.
And Torchwood i do love but i'm royally sick of all the Ianto/Jack fic i'm now only reading ones written by favourite authors or which have /really/ interesting summaries. The only pairings i'm really liking in there are Owen/Ianto and Owen/Jack and if someone recs me a good ultra angsty Owen/Gwen...those two are just not meant to be happy, i hate it when fic has them all lovey dovey and setting up house.

And got to agree with you on Jack/Ianto - some of it's sickeningly awful.
I prefer Owen with Ianto or Jack myself. Occasionally the threesome (Owen/Ianto/Jack can work, though.
Oh and I liked the drabble a lot... love the Owen/Ianto dynamic to bits.

Owen/Ianto is my OTP in Torchwood, or at least as much of a OTP as i'm capable of having, they're just georgous together.

I love your take on Connor; you've got that wonderful mix of surface comedy and deep-but-mostly-hidden emotion that goes with him. I think 'target practice' was my favourite, but only just. They were all good. Thanks for these fics.

Have you seen the trailer for series 2? I won't say anything specific in case you haven't and don't want spoilers, but I *love* the look of what they appear to have done with Connor. *happy squee*

No i haven't seen the trailer, i'm in Aus and and still on dialup so i haven't had a chance, but i'm quite happy to be spoiled *grin*.

I think I'm just going to stay AU and pretend we never lost Ryan, it's easier that way, and I don't have to worry about the time paradox stuff either.
