OMG why must class be so boring and so compulsory? Win for lap top and checking email while in class. Would be mad otherwise.

[livejournal.com profile] comment_fic  continues to be win. Wrote 40 stories over the weekend, am smug.  Come prompt people, I was running out of interesting prompts to write.

Front yard is completely soggy, weather bureau says that this was just due to showers, the proper rain is starting next week. Here floody floody floody.

You Are 0% Republican
If you have anything in common with the Republican party, it's by sheer chance.
You're a staunch liberal, and nothing is going to change that!

Nice to know that growing up as a hippie on a multiple occupancy hasn't shaped my values at all :D

Ok so the guy at the coffee van/counter at the library is totally Jon except with those big lobe stretching earnings and more tattoos. Which is hot.

What is not hot is Coastal Biogeochemistry which is massive and is going to kill me with its big science words. Why Department Of Education must I learn to teach Geography as well as English!?

Also the lecturer went 20 minutes over time, which is like the biggest fail ever. Especially when it cuts into my one hour of lunch.

Fail.

*Bangs head on desk*

Can this semester be over now?

OMG I cannot possibly articulate how awesome today is.

I have been on dial up forever, mostly because I live in the middle of nowhere and as such do not get broadband or wireless.

So, today the government paid for me to have a rather large satellite dish mounted on my roof and I NOW HAVE SATELLITE INTERNET!

WIN!

OK, I admit, not quite as cheap or fast as broadband/cable/whatever but it's SO MUCH FASTER. I can use You Tube! Which is a completely new thing for me. Even the shaped speed (once I use up my allowance) is faster than what I used to connect at.

INTERNET YOU WIN AT LIFE!

I have been nominated for a Numb3rs Award! Which is pretty awesome, for my story To The End Of Night, Larry/Megan schmoop.

I'm just amused because I'm a slash writer! And I've only written about 3 or 4 het stories, and the one that gets nominated is a het story. :P

So I'm stoked, thank you for nominating me!

Onto something a little stranger.

Yesterday while sitting in my computer room a small brown snake crossed the room in front of me, and it was really wincy, less than a foot long.

We caught it in a microwave bowl and took it for a walk... Oddity.

I'm in a really strange mood tonight, mainlining various members of Decaydance, mostly Panic and reading shitloads of bandom fic as well as occasionally having deep moments where I declare myself, indeed all human kind and endeavors, pastiche and then go on to brood.
I think it's my weird way of welcoming myself back to the internet.

God I missed the random.

Saw Benjamin Button today, AWESOME movie, Brad Pitt kicked ass and David Fincher is an amazing director. Cate Blanchett was wonderful as everyone has said, but everyone forgot to mention the awesome surprise!Tilda Swinton.

It was such a wonderfully drawn story with really interesting asides that made you laugh and yet were totally necessary for the story.

And of course Brad Pitt was as hot as ever.

The shorts made me want to watch:

Milk, the new Sean Penn movie about a gay rights activist which looks really cool.

Grand Turismo the new Clint Eastwood despotism which looks wonderful and hurty and vaguely violent which i'm such a sucker for.

Frost/Nixon which looks like a very tense yet interesting film, but maybe one which I should wait for on DVD.

Greetings from Woodfrod Folk Festival!

So far it has been an awesome festival, the weather although a little hot some days has cooperated admirably and there is no all consuming mud like last year, just enough rain to keep the dust down.

Day one was partially cloudy and I wandered aimlessly for most of the morning taking in bits and pieces of various acts, getting my hair braided into small plaits and then joined the pilgrimage to the Amphitheater for the Opening Ceremony of fire twirlers and lanterns and pledging the most wonderfully bizarre pledge of allegiance ever.
After the Opening Ceremony most of the audience under twenty five rushed the stage for That 1 Guy, an awesome artist whose music which it could be classified as dance mostly defies classification. I had a good spot and managed to get myself into the front row of the mosh and we all spent most of gig getting pushed back by security.
This made me remember why I stay to the back of moshes as i came out with very very sore muscles, several bruises and drenched in sweat, so all in all a good time was had by all. :P.
Most of the mosh then left for the Concert stage and Doch a gypsy fusion band which plays wonderfully addictive Rom songs and makes the entire audience dance, get sweaty and strip off clothing :D.

Yesterday was a sunnier day and I spent much of the morning lying in the Chai tent watching people sing, lounging on the pillows and reading a book.
Then I moved to the village green so I could listen to the folky music from the Duck and Shovel and watch the cricketers and their slow motion replays of the Boxing Day test.
Then a massage to remove the soreness of the moshing. *Grin*
It rained on me so I, like everyone else, put on my plastic poncho and headed back to camp to grab a tarp to sit on and an umbrella in preparation for Kate Miller-Heidke who ROCKED OUT THE AMPI, which was packed full with the occasional fire twirler right up the top. She was followed by Josh Pyke who was also awesome and seems to have stealth songs because I only thought I knew two and I actually knew almost every song in the set.

Today I once again lay around and did nothing in the Village green for part of the morning as it was very very sunny and stinking hot. I retired to the Internet Cafe for a while to see if my inbox had created a civilization and declared independence yet. Then I went off to Morris dance which should seriously be banned in Australia in summer 'cause I flaked 45 minutes in dripping with sweat.
Then I went back to camp and showered off the majority of the nasty nasty sweat and came back after dark to watch the daily parade.
Which brings us to now!

Three more days to go, which I may blog daily or once I get home, we shall see!

Today I bought two new pairs of Converse All Stars, to go with my other 3 pairs :P. One orange pair with Japanese style (old style, not manga) drawings of waves and a singer and what looks like noodles. Another pair with stylised black and white patterns.

I also found Resse's Peanut Butter Cups, which are fucking awesome and somewhat a novelty in Australia.

And I got Buffy season 5.

So all in all a good day.

I am also becoming completely obsessed with bandom fics, it's terrible and I promised myself that i'd leave one area where I could fantasise about people without having to explain away having read porn about them, but it seems that it shall not be so. I have been pulled in (Patrick/Pete, Brendon/Anyone and Everyone, Spencer/Jon, Spencer/Ryan! Even in Bandom I can't manage a OTP :P).

I saw the Spicks and Specks stage show last night.

And it was FREAKING AWESOME! Adam Hills was hilarious and wonderful and he hugged various members of the audience. *Pouts* I wanted an Adam hug, and that man is seriously agile for someone with only one foot.

He seemed a little amused by the fact that, firstly, when asking what they should do while in our town the general answer was "Leave".  Secondly that after pulling 8 random people out of the audience three of them knew each other and most of the audience knew one of the others.

Also there was one lady who had been to 50 something shows so far and by the end of the tour will have only missed four. Her name was Marie, they seemed to be amused by their random stalker lady.

I also want to marry Myf's brother Kit, he's awesome.

Woodford Folk Festival begins in eight days and I cannot wait!

Augie March, Lior, The Herd, Josh Pyke, Kate Miller-Heidke, Martin Pearson, Doch and That 1 Guy are all going to be there as well as the usual range of everything else you can possibly imagine, this year I shall learn to Morris Dance. :D. Last year I learned to Japanese Sword Dance and then fell down. I stayed that way until my legs started working again, so this year i'll stick to slightly less energetic ones.

*Flails incoherently*

I CAN'T WAIT!

Oh My God...I have just seen The History Boys.

*Dies*

Apart from being the most slashable movie in existence it is also just fucking awesome!

I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it! Darkin, Irwin, Scripps and Posner I especially want to molest but they were all awesome actors and had some amazing lines and scenes. Posner's unrequited love was wonderfully done as was the entire story between Darkin and Irwin. But my favourite scene was the last one, it was so wonderfully done and Frances de la Tour was just so wonderfully perfect.

So for those of you who haven't, shame on you, it's the best movie i've seen in ages and you must watch it!
I hate work, I come out smelling and exhausted and most of my minions are fucking absent minded teenagers who are damn close to useless.

I'm sick of having to work late cause they fuck around and never getting paid for it because the boss is a bitch with no management skills to speak of.

I'm so sick of working a minimum wage job just to support myself through uni.

Fucking government give me some bloody money so I can stop putting on a degrading fast food uniform and working enough that it actually makes me physically sick.

Fuck.

That is all.

It was Helicopter Day today.

The day in late October/early November when the drug helicopter comes around.

It depends on the weather as to when the crops will be mature but not yet harvested.

Gotta love living in the hippie capital of Australia.

Every year it flies over the paddocks and bush and tries to find everyone's Cannabis crops.

My life is fun.

So today was the last day of my prac and I though I would do a bit of a wrap up.

It was awesome, I had a yr 7 class which were really sweet and were all very interesting. I then had a 9A class who were FUCKING SMART.  I mean, damn, some of them could have been quite comfortable in yr 11 if not higher. Most lf them were really sweet, except for 3 boys who i separated two weeks in, then life got much easier and one malignant rude girl who I eventually just threw out for swearing at me.
Then I had 10A who were doing exam prep, not quite as smart as the yr 9's but still pretty good.

One of my yr 9's gave me chocolate as a goodbye present :D. I love my kids.

And my evaluations was really awesome, I got a glowing review and an offer if I ever wanted casual work. :D

So now i'm on holiday until february and hopefully i'll end up writing a lot more.

I'm doing the numberswriteoff again, I can't help myself, challenges are shiny and addictive. It's a post ep/ep tag so it gives me a reason why I need to rewatch every Numbers episode again *grin*.

And since everyone else seems to be doing it...GO OBAMA! WOOT! My faith in America is now slightly renewed. Ok I still think half of Cali needs to be hit over the head but John Howard banned gay marriage too so we can't really talk.

Dude I so need to stop collecting new, small fandoms, Life, Fringe (Oh NBN why do you fail so much and cancel one of the best things on TV) they're so pretty but so little...*pouts* well it's probably a good thing that Life isn't big, the damn thing makes me ship het *Shudders*.

But speaking of pairing preferences it's a bit strange at the moment, I keep writing Gen of all things, me, who can barely write a fic without a bit of gratuitous porn. I think i'm getting a little bored of the porn. It's very disturbing.

Update from the world of prac teaching:

There were cows in the quad today...

I walked down the stairs and there were cows.

Shiny clean cows on leads having their picture taken.

Yes my high school was rural. Why do you ask?

Started the first orientatin day of my second prac today. At my old high school where I only finished 3 years ago.

So that was odd all by itself and the comes recess.

One of the lower grade girls beats another bad enough to have to be taken away in an ambulance and to have herself taken away by the poilice.

Then in my 5th period Yr 7 class while waiting to come in the door one of the boys king hits another in the cheekbone out of the blue.

I swear it wasn't this bad when I was there.

Local elections today, had to vote, bleugh.

Usually I do my hippie duty and vote for the Greens, but no parties in local elections.

So I voted for the guy my dad called 'a long haired git', I figured that was close enough.

Also today, looked out the window while eating breakfast. Two crows were pulling the tail of Pixie, my horse.

Can't quite figure out why but i'm tossing up between nest making materials or just being jokers.

Either is about as likely I think.
